Chocolate Chip Cookies and Movie Night

Tonight Daniel made tacos for dinner.  For dessert, we made chocolate chip cookies.  There is nothing better than a warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie right out of the oven.

Then we watched The 40-Year-Old Virgin, which is one of my favorite comedies.  Steve Carell is very convincing, with his numerous awkward moments with his co-workers, with sexual encounters, and with his girlfriend.  Daniel doesn’t like the movie because it is so uncomfortable to watch, but that is precisely the reason I like it so much.  Jay’s character (played by Romany Malco) is probably my favorite, with Paula (Jane Lynch of Glee) coming in a close second.  Her interactions with Andy are strange but also feel oddly comforting to me.  I also love the story she tells about her Guatemalan gardener, Javier.

If I ever need cheering up, this is the movie to which I turn.  It never fails to bring a laugh, with the ridiculous dialogue and bizarre interactions between the characters.  And of course, the infamous chest waxing scene, which is one of the all-time most hilarious scenes from a movie.

What movies do you watch if you need a laugh?

A shot from the George Eastman house.
